Avon wheels...

Postby MattyE » Sat Jul 11, 2009 9:48 pm

Hi all,

I had a quick word with a few people at Billing about my weird Avon wheels, seems no one recognised them.. possibly due to my hopeless attempt at drawing one  so now im home ive taken a couple of pics..

so.. anyone seen rims like these before?
I was thinking of replacing them with 13x6 minilites - cant make my mind up if i like the "wheels made of lego" look or not :P

I would keep them, be different, they look quite smart.

Didn't Renault do something similar on a 70s/80s model? Early turbo car?

Please don't sell me a Viva. I'll just ruin it.

Maybe your right Peter... but its hard to resist the lure of some shiney minilites with chubby tyres :P

been doing some rummaging on the interwebz and just found this... http://www.mini-mayfair.net/10.html

theres some exactly the same style on there but 10" - so looks like these were available for minis

Nice to be a bit different . The avons fitted to snoots / sportshatches were safety wheels with those fidly bands that no tyre depot ever want to fit!
A great period wheel , which luckily takes the Griffin centre cap :D

These are also ones with fiddly bands!!

guess i need to find 2 vauxhall center caps to make all four wheels match! probably easier than finding two avon ones :?
