Thanks Ethan- very enlightening. One wonders what happened in 1973 - surely expense in changing tooling for such changes must have had a cost - can't have been a benefit analysis done.

The difference a bit of milkstone remover and a very quick wire brush can make to a part. Totally transformed it.

I did wonder about that as well Bill, perhaps someone out there knows why.

Things are starting to happen again. Peaks and troughs as they say. Got the rear arms polybushed, not exactly the most professional setup but it worked very effectively. The car is on the trailer and away to the welder today where it will be getting the floor pan fitted, new rear arches, twin headlight brackets and the spare wheel well fixed.

Some more goodies. I got these just before Christmas but never got round to posting them yet. Brand new EBC front discs, EBC "Yellowstuff" pads and braided steel brake lines from Goodridge. The pads especially get a good review, given this new engine will be putting out 3x the power of the 1256 I didn't fancy running the standard braking setup for long.

New expressed steel rear arches are also on too although I don't have any photos of them but they are a very good fit
