Aye...a little .....

Indicator stalk...
I stripped down the original indicator stalk assembly by taking out the roll pin that holds the indicator/flasher arm in the switch gear, snipped the wires ( giving my self enough to solder to) and removed the arm. I stripped down a Ford Anglia one I had kicking around the same way, threaded the wires through the viva switch gear, soldered them up and insulated them, then I positioned the switch arm in the switch gear and replaced the roll pin...all good as new and all systems, including the horn, work perfectly :) .

Rear bumper...
Half an hour of bashing it around with a rubber mallet on a soft wood block made it almost completely straight, so then I polished the *Bleep* of it and refitted the overriders, bolted it in place and it's looking good.

Number plates...
Fitted shiny new pressed ally items :)

Wheels....
Many, many, hours of stripping down my old set of banded steels to bare metal I set them up in my wreck of a plastic greenhouse and sprayed them up ( its due replacement so I thought it wouldn't matter getting covered in paint ). It was also an experiment in painting, I've been chatting to my banger racer neighbours and they use household paint thinned with spirit all day long to paint their cars and the results are very good so I thought I'd give it a go on the wheels, I used a dulux outdoor gloss....

I think it looks ok and it's only the wheels after all )

Looking good, had a Mini when I was 15 and it had been sprayed in Castrol GTX racing colours using valspar household paint & it looked quite good

Nothing wrong with good quality paint no mater where it's from. The underside of my Firenza is painted with satin black Dulux Weathershield water based exterior metal paint, applied with a roller over Upol Gravitex.

I used gloss oil based Dulux Weathershield on the underside of our Minor years ago and it's still as good as new.

Today she had her maiden voyage in my ownership, and the first outing in about 30 years if the previous owner is to be believed...
Only took her up the road and back but it highlighted a few issues that need addressing:

Brakes- need adjusting and bleeding a little more, they were a tad worrisome :|

Prop shaft- some new UJ's in order I think.

Dampers- I didn't think these would be up to much but now I know they definitely need replacing.

Engine- Pulls like a train, really good pick-up...but I believe the noise is coming from the timing cover rather than further in, so I'll be investigating that soon.

Speedo cable- needs replacing.

Fuel gauge- odd fluctuation needs investiaging.

Steering wheel- needs replacing, I just can't get on with the seemingly 3ft diameter circle of wire that laughingly calls itself a steering wheel...plus it's cracked where it joins the center boss.

And that's it for now...

oh.... I took some pictures :)
