My girlfriend got me a nice set of black and silver plates for Christmas so I got them slapped on and pulled the 2 girls out for a bit of a photoshoot before the flintstone mobile goes into a deep restoration phase.

I think the plates make the colour seem a lot darker or fuller compared to the yellow and white reflective ones, there is definitely a better colour contrast and I'm well pleased with them.

I had this new exhaust made back in May by a friend who lives about 15 minutes from me. The car sounds far better now and its very tidy and presentable looking. The old exhaust I had on was just a mashup of bits and pieces to get it onto the road so it was nice to finally treat the car to a proper one.

Having a full week off for Easter and the weather being nice I thought I'd get the old viva out for a spin. Took the ferry from Strangford to Portaferry and went up the Ards Peninsula, stopping off here and there. Covered 160 miles and the car, which hadn't had a decent run since maybe last October, never skipped a beat. Well pleased :D

Over Easter I also discovered the wonders of a clay bar. Admittedly I always thought they were a bit of a gimmick or only suited to die hard detailers but I won an auto finesse kit a few years ago and it was lying in the bag so I thought I would try it. I have to say I am really impressed with how well it worked, I started by doing one half of the bonnet and then drying it off. Running the back of my hand up the untouched side compared to the clay barred side was night and day!! The dirt and contaminants the clay bar removes from the paintwork before polishing is unbelievable, the paint almost felt as smooth as the polish and wax leaves it feeling. I have since used the clay bar on a few other cars and would definitely recommend using one every once in a while before polishing the car.

I took the viva a run on Saturday to a local car show being hosted to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. The only viva present out of 180 cars and 1 of only 3 Vauxhalls.
