Subframe and rear axle now fitted to the car for a test fit with a few new polybushes fitted. The sump now clears and the hole for the gearstick has been moved back a bit to accommodate the mx5 gearbox. Next step is sort out the engine mounts and crossmember for the gearbox and then get a driveshaft made.

My new rear arch repair sections arrived on Friday from Ex-Pressed steel. They seem to be of fairly good quality. Now to get them stuck in

Thought I'd share a few photos of some of the goodies I've gathered up for this build. I always preferred the twin headlights on the front of the vivas but could never bring myself to chop the rectangular ones out of my standard 4 door. This car on the other hand presents the perfect opportunity to fit the twin headlights and grille.
I have the 4 headlights, grille and plates cut from an older car, also got indicators and a steel bulge.

Also got an interior bonnet release to go with the grille. This will save having to cut a section out of the grille for the standard release latch to pass through as I have seen some owners do previously when making the swap to the twin headlights.

With the bulge being a possibility on this build I had a look through some old photos online to see how it would look when fitted. This also sparked the 1/4 bumper idea too although looking at the photos I am in 2 minds about it. I think the quarter bumpers plus the bulge leave the front of the car looking in a state of shock
Also quite liking how the registration is printed onto the bonnet leaving the front of the car quite clean looking, perhaps someone could keep me right about how legal/illegal that would be...

Engine mounts are underway.
Plates have been cut and drilled to go on the block and then a bracket to go on the subframe. Going for something like the the attached 3D concept
