Welding Question

Postby Clara » Tue May 22, 2007 9:33 pm

I have a chap (friend of fathers) coming to look at the HA whose willing to help with the welding to get it through an MOT.

Now I know the chassis rail needs welding and I think it's going to be a case of removing the old chassis rail (front drivers side) and replacing it rather than patching it. We'll see what he says. But just in case

How hard is it to find chassis rails? Is it possible to create your own?
Three cars, two fire engines, one steam roller, a wheelchair, and various sized hammers.... what could go wrong?!

1.2mm for chassis rails  ?
Surely not  1.5/2.0mm is a bit more like it.
As regards making the parts,Anything "within reason" can be made!

We'll have to agree to disagree on that then Mike
I've had no problems whatsoever using 1.5 or even 2mm thk on strength parts such as the chassis.
To each his own :)
