RED GRIFFON

Postby griffonmark » Mon Aug 10, 2009 8:48 pm

At last the red Griffon is nearing completion. Should be MOT'd this week. I can't wait. This has taken a lot longer than expected. Ebay advert said good runner, just needed carb cleaning and refitting. Ha!

Carb was in bits, lots of bits it didn't need but not the bits it did need. The inlet manifold was knackered and has been leaking for years. The rad poured out water. The valves were rusted solid. The dissy was in a box. The plug leads, coil etc were unusable. Fuel looked like petrol, smelt like petrol, tasted like petrol but wasn't petrol! Two punctures, front bumper rotten, flasher wiring knackered, brakes seized. The perils of ebay.......

An epic day today, the Griffon has finally risen from the ashes and passed the MOT with little more than a sticky handbrake linkage, no plate bulb, and hazard light switch. Yippee!

This is the original factory built press car which I have the original Kit Car magazine article for. Imagine what the first ever Viva built would be worth!

Its taken me a year to get it sorted but well worth the struggle. What a beauty!Image
