engine casting number on HB viva

engine casting number on HB viva

whilst removing the engine from my HB viva for restoration work, i notice it has a blue engine fitted and 1256 casting stamped on the lower nearside.
does this mean its a later hc engine? :?

Yes, it's a later engine 1256 is the engine size

many thanks, do you happen to know if i can change the rear main oil seal without removing the sump?

Sump off, mains bearing caps have to come off, also timing chain has to come off, so you can lift crank to withdraw oil seal.
