I'd say that's fixable.

If you have proof of the original registration number it is possible to reclaim it if no longer associated with the car and not currently re-used elsewhere. Shout if you need help with that.

Thanks Vampire tigger.

I have the original buyers invoice and loan agreement from 1966. It shows the chassis number, engine number and the registration number. The V5 itself was probably handed over to the Italian Authorities in the 1980s when it was imported into Italy. And I guess, the tear off portion would have been sent to DVLA to record the car as permanently exported.

So the invoice/loan agreement is the only documentation I have. Do you think that would be sufficient to reclaim the original registration number?

Many thanks

Mauro

Possibly so long as the VIN matches. After that it’s a matter of contacting DVLA. If it’s not on a car or on retention there’s a good chance. I’ve done it before.

It's been a while since I posted here, mostly because there was no news, but now, thanks to Adrian Miller who rescued me by rebuilding the Brabham engine and providing lots of spares, things have really started to move.

The engine is back in Lucca and almost ready to re-fit. The brakes, steering and as much of the suspension as possible is being overhauled. I'm waiting to get the twin SUs back from a carb specialist in Fidenza.

So, any time soon I should be able to start her up and maybe even have a drive 8)

Thanks Cooperman. It's exciting stuff. I'm collecting the carbs tomorrow after their rebuild. I'll post photos. Sadly, the restoration costs for the carbs are higher than the price of a new set. But I asked them to retain all of the original settings and specifications so hopefully it has been worth it. :?
