HB Convertible Red Top Engine SOLD

Postby Greytop47 » Fri May 18, 2018 3:58 pm

HI all ,

Just had my Clear MOT on Tuesday , the Tester pointing out I had only covered 800 miles during the year. Now read 17,900 miles approx

So I am thinking I should pass the car to someone who would use it more and give Club Members
the first shot.

If you look at the Autumn 2017 Club mag there is a picture on the 'My Viva 3 ' page, but here is
a brief description:

Converted from a 2 door with a Ford soft top and roll bar. Chassis uprated at the time. I believe the colour is Starfire. Racing double bonnet locks , gas strut bonnet supports. Historic Vehicle Exempt Road Tax ( just renewed).
I paid £194 for a 3000 mile insurance policy

Engine is a 2 litre Red Top . Major engine rebuild at 15,600 miles 2 year ago. High lift cams , K&N filters, Double Kenlow fans. No leaks . Starts well . Stainless Steel Exhaust . 5 Speed gearbox .

Astra MK 3 power steering rack, Manta rear axle with coin springs , Vented discs all round, 16 inch alloy wheels.

Interior retrimmed with Recaro Front seats , Full Luke 4 point harness, electric front windows.

Sony CDX s 2050 radio/ cd with Infinity Speakers ( rear not wired in )

Mono Steering wheel

Cavalier Dials fitted to dash

As far as price goes it is a rare car so I am hoping for GT / Brabham levels as it the only one . It would be nice for new owner to enjoy Summer in it .

So if anyone is interested please PM or call me on 07939523240 for any more you need to know or would like to chat about money .

Thanks Keith

Does it say 'convertable' or 'cabriolet' on the log book? How did you retain the reg number seeing as the bodyshell has been cut?

If it is the FWD one it is very nicely done, superb workmanship :)

Thank you for your comments and yes that's the car !

Not my work at all , the body conversion was undertaken by the Ward family from Dunstable in 2000 and my V5 has 'convertible'. Maybe things were not so tight then . The engine was changed in 2009.

I have the DVLA copy V5's from new. The first owner had the car 23 years. I am only the 6th Keeper !

Cheers and thanks for looking

I think this is what he means by a price guide "As far as price goes it is a rare car so I am hoping for GT / Brabham levels as it the only one ."

Yes that's correct.

I had no idea how to price, so I could only give the the more expensive Viva's as a guide.

Thanks again for your help.

The car is now on Classic Cars for sale by the way.

Cheers Keith
