OHV brake disc shields

Postby droopsnoot » Wed Sep 19, 2018 6:25 pm

I've had some of these made up, available in pairs at £40 + P&P per pair. ETA - P&P for reasonable delivery on mainland UK via the Royal Mail is £6.

This is one, compared to a (rusty) original one.

This is the view from the rear

And this is from the front, with the disc removed

They're supplied un-finished, so you can choose whether you want to paint, powder-coat, chrome or whatever finish. These are hand-shaped, so you may find some hammer marks and/or shrinking marks around the edges, though I'm trying to keep those to a minimum.

PM me if you're interested.

Those look very good Mike. I should think they will sell well.

Cheers, both of you. I've edited the post to show a Royal mail P&P charge.

Very impressive, did you make these yourself?

I've had the flat blanks cut out, then I add the pressings around the centre and for the flexi hose bracket and raise the lip around the edge, hence the manual bits and possible tool marks.

In the beginning I tried making one from scratch, and it took about 3-4 hours to do one, and not as neatly as the edges and holes have come out this way. So that was a non-starter, then 1972nail suggested another approach which made the initial bit much quicker.

Sorry, I don't now. Anyone? I had heard they would fit HB OHV cars, but not sure about HA. How big are the discs on a HA?

Checked whilst under the car this week, and the HA discs are approx. 8 / 9 inches across?
Difficult to be totally accurate as there isn't anywhere to get a flat reading without removing them!, and my eye sight isn't what it used to be!!
Maybe Fred has some in the shed, even an old one, to measure to confirm?

I think the diameter is the same across all the OHV disc braked cars, it's the mounting holes and pressing around the mounting face of the suspension upright that could be different on the HA.
