Hello from London

Postby raplma » Wed May 19, 2010 1:20 pm

Just a quick shout to say hi.

I have a Sylva Star kitcar which I know isn't strictly a Viva and looks nothing like one, however it is very much based on it. The model specifically was a 1975 Vauxhall Viva HC, E, 2 door saloon, glacier blue, chassis number 9C11DEX138270.

It was converted in 1982/3 by a garage near Truro, all the running gear, steering, engine, gearbox, brakes, electrical system, dash, fuel tank etc are used, it's pretty much a chassis and skin swap, the rest Viva.

About 50 were made in 82/3 by Sylva Autokits and are now rather rare. Mine although road worthy is an ongoing restoration project hence joining this group as I will no doubt need advice on mechanical aspects and the classic kitcar owners question "does anyone know what this is!"

If interested you can see a short evolution of the car in picture form in the link below.

The main restoration isues at present are replace the radiator, the current alloys are 98or100mm PCD which has caused the studs to bend, so having just purchased some new wheel studs I am looking for some correct, 4 inch PCD's alloys, maybe Alleycats, so if anyone has some in fair condition I may be interested. The side screens and roof need fabricating.

Thanks in advance and who knows may see some of you at meets in the future
It's a Viva Jim just not as you knows it . . . well it used to be it's now a Sylva Star kit car

Welcome to Vivadom

Have seen only a couple of these in the past, and while there is no way I could fit behind the wheel of one of these, I do quite liken the idea of a Viva based 2 seater sprinter.

I'm sure you'll get all the help you'll need from the folks on here. Good luck with the project.

Dan

Hello and welcome. I remember looking at these in a kitcar mag in the 80's and thinking I would like to build one. But like Dan, I wouldnt fit in! Ask any question you like, you might even get a sensible answer!
