Hello - looking for my dad's HC

Postby VivaMartin » Sat Oct 16, 2010 5:37 pm

Hi All, myself and my dad were talking to some relatives at a wedding last week and the topic of dad's old Viva HC came up. He sold it to a member of a club a few years ago (although I don't know which club) and I thought it would be nice to see if its still around. I tried the DVLA page and it says 'tax not due' so I'm hoping this means its taxed (free of course) and still on the road.
It was an olive green 1971 HC hatchback - XJU 950J - no luck with Google but does anyone on here know of it?
Thanks,
Dave.

By hatchback, do you mean estate? If you have any pictures that might help. Welcome by the way.

Its listed in our register. It was sold on ebay in Aug 2010. Currently on SORN, so its still around somewhere. Deluxe Est, looks like it has been painted, its still green, but not the original colour.

Wow thanks for that Peter I never thought we'd see it again!
Not sure of the colour though :( the olive green was a lovely colour as seen below in 1992 on Bodmin Moor with myself plonked on the wing reading one of my favourite Doctor Who books!

Just noticed it's now got one of the old-style number plates at the back too. It would be interesting to find out to what extent the Viva has been modified/overhauled.

PS sorry meant estate!

Could I use those pictures and add them to our register? Glad to see it is the right car, keep your eyes open on ebay, on here, and other forums like Retro Rides, it might show up again one day.

Try these two Peter - they show the car a little better:
