Hi Everyone
Looking at buying a Viva with the intention of fitting a 2.0XE red top, how easy is this and anyone near to Peterborough done this, after mainly having Ford's this is the unknown so all advice will be gratefully received if I bite the bullet and purchase.

HC then nice model few of thoses still about should be a nice car

not wishing to put you off getting a viva but the axles are very weak on most variants and unlike an escort you cant swap a diff out easily and a red top will defo brake one i know !! On the plus side you can get a real nice one for half what you would pay for a *Bleep* escort shell and they are going up in value too ! They are a good bunch on here and if you do find one bet someone on here will know it.good luck with your search mate

its not too bad a job, you'll need a manta sump or make your own, a manta, omega or carlton gearbox, custom prop and you'll have to dickey about with the electrics a bit and that's not far off job done.

Depends wether you plan to run standard injection, throttle bodies or carbs. Standard factory injection would be the easiest i reckon, for throttle bodies you'll need a re-mappable ecu and for carbs you'll need a stand alone ignition kit.

As for rear axles, the standard ohv axle won't take too much tick, the ohc ones will take a bit more, but your best bet is a reliant scimitar axle modified to fit, these take a jag diff and are ultra strong.

It does if you are using the original distributor and coil pack. Change to mappable ecu or a Manta belt drive distributor if you don't want to cut.

The servo and master cylinder may need to be changed or relocated as well.

Thanks for replies everybody I have done a bit of research and come to the conclusion that the axle would need replacing with one not made of chocolate!!
Still early days but fancy doing something different

Kev as lord 13 said scimitar axle is the way to go ive got one in my hb it was done by ian jemson he has a jig so bolted straight in mine he even redone the hubs so my wheels fitted !
