1971 Viva 1.6 Automatic

Hi every one I’m new to this so you will need to be patient.
I have a 1971 Vauxhall Viva 1600 automatic, and I need some help with finding information or if I’m lucky a fix.
The gearbox is a GM THm 180, this gearbox was fitted to many makes of cars of the same period or so I found out.
The problem is that Vauxhall used a electric actuator for the kick down not a cable like every other make , and mine is faulty and the switch on the carburettor missing. The car is fitted with a 2.3 engine from a cf and a manual gear bow.
I want to put it back how it was , I have 95% of the bits except I can not find anybody to help with the detent actuator or switch.
Can any body help even a part number may help , I can supply a picture from the gearbox manual but that’s all I’ve got.
Many thanks if you’ve taken the time to read this , Cheers Rob

Hi Rob,

I presume you have researched the other GM makes of the era America etc. where abviously Automatic Transmission was more common. Is what you are looking for anything like items nos. 133005081357 or 233451016659 on ebay.
As far as I can recall there are a number of North American members on the Forum from time to time.

Hi Bill , thank you for your reply ,
Yes I’ve been all over the flee bay , if have researched the GM TH180 gearbox it’s been fitted to all sorts of cars , SDI rover but the selector is on the other side and a cable detent actuator, I’ve even been talking to a guy in Australia as it was fitted to several Holden cars but they used an internal actuator and mine is external.
I served my apprenticeship on Vauxhalls from 1977 till 81, and it rings no bells.
I was hoping somebody out there may have an old micro fish slide up nd running or even know what I’m on about.

Cheers Rob
