Hello

If you're new say a bit about yourself. :welcome2:

Hello

Postby chrismc » Sat Dec 08, 2007 5:27 pm

I have owned a 1974 magnum coupe for approximately 7 years. I bought it as a tatty but relatively sound restoration project. It had no MOT so I put it through and used it as a daily driver for approx a year.

Then disaster! It was the victim of a hit and run driver outside my house. I assessed the damage -Smashed wing, front valance, front panel and bent chassis leg! I decided to scrap it.....

Whilst chatting to a mate at work he mentioned his dad had a hydraulic ram like they use in bodyshops and I could borrow it free of charge. I decided to give it a go. What could I loose?

After a day in the rain I managed to straighten the chassis leg, and the crumpled inner wing. I then decided to restore it. Within a couple of weeks I managed to get all the panels I needed.

The build has progressed slowly ever since ....

I am hoping to be on the road next year.

Oh yes forgot to mention the Magnum now has a 3.9 RV8 fuel injected engine,5 speed box, 5 link Scimitar axle with LSD, vented discsand a rear disc conversion

Hope I haven't offended anyone.....

Cheers Chris

Cheers for the welcome guys! I've owned the car for 7 years but have been restoring /modding it for 5 Years which is a long time but the way I see it is that if your not enjoying it, don't do it.
Everytime I stopped enjoying working in the car I left it until I felt like it again.
Also I had to pack up for a while whilst the garage was built.
Im full of enthusiasm at the moment and I am aiming to get it on the road in 2008. :P
Pics are in the Garage...

Thanks for all the interest.

Peter, the garage is yours. Come and get it at your leisure. :D

Alan the car is from Sussex as you said.

It was sold to Mr Eldred 0n 25/11/75 by Uckfield Garage Sussex for the grand sum of £1927.89. Inclusive of road tax (£25) and optional vinyl roof. He part exchanged a year old Silver Firenza (HNJ 184L) for it.
As you can tell I have the original Bill of sale and FSH from 1976up untill 1996. Ill get my anorak!!
