New Enthusiast in Bournemouth seeking NRU245M

Postby Magnum Mania » Thu Aug 28, 2008 11:29 pm

Hi All,

I'm James and, as some of you may have seen from the 'Wanted' thread, I'm looking for a 1256cc Firenza or HC Viva.

My enthusiasm for the marque was sewn at a young age. My Dad had a Mid-Blue Firenza (NRU245M) that I absolutely adored! The black 'bucket' seats seemed so radical to our other daily, a Triumph Dolomite Sprint (which I'm also an enthusiast of). The car had a fine white pinstripe along the swage line, 5.5J Rostyle wheels and oblong headlamps - where is it now I wonder?

Hopefully I'll have one of my own soon, are there any local enthusiasts?

My friend owns 'Magnum Mania', a much modified Firenza from the early days of Street Machine (it was displayed at Alexandra Palace and other custom shows in the early '80s). This car, typical of the era, has a Rover V8, a Dralon buttoned interior and chromed Jaguar IRS. He is steadily collecting parts to restore it - quite a project!

Yup! Magnum Mania is a metallic blue, with a black vinyl roof - and whippy seventies-tastic aerial! It runs on chrome Cragar wheels and has a six-light droop front nosecone - or at least it did 'til we decided it looked better with the quad-light front. It has a Rover V8 of unknown origin but came with a stack of bills for cylinder head and camshaft work etc. The car is still pretty solid and will see the mean streets of Bournemouth again soon!

I'll post pics ASAP.

Hi James & welcome to the fold.
Good luck with your search for a car, they turn up on this forum & on Ebay sometimes, so keep your eyes peeled.
That Firenza sounds cool, look forward to seeing it!
