I bid on that first time round and the b***@@rd knocked my bid off with no explanation!
I was quite impressed with it. I thought there was quite a lot of effort in the welding and the way the exhausts popped out the back 1/4's was real trick. Still needs about 2 years work though.
These engines do sound good at full chat. I used to do some work on Jags, handling warranty claims and the like, even changed the head gaskets on my dad's XJ12 without taking the engine out, no mean feat! It was an air injected quad stromberg unit and it was common for the exhaust gaskets to leak at the head. This resulted in some real good popping and banging on the overrun on a manual. Exchange units were dead cheap, when I was replacing them in the early 90's a crated V12 from Jaguar was about £1,500 + VAT, so we rarely rebuilt them.
