Fitting Alfa seats to an HC

Postby steff » Thu Apr 16, 2015 1:05 pm

A wee eBay flutter at the weekend saw ne pick these up last night. Looking to use the front ones in my HC as they look a good match to the Viva seats and saddle colour interior.

Anybody futted these before or have any hints/tips on fitting them?

Cheers

Steff

Think 72nail has Alfa seats fitted in his blue Firenza.

ive fitted escort leather fronts and have now got a pair of black leather Calibre seats - ive retained the original viva sliding mechanism and did away with all the underneath bits on the new seats. made up some brackets and all ok .

most modern seats have complex runners etc which tend to make the seat sit too high - at least you know the seats will be level when attached to the viva runners (that's if you have that system and not the earlier tilt forward on hinges system)

Yes I have... I first fitted 156 seats from a 4 door because that's all I could get at the time. They required homemade subframes with hinges to allow a bit of access to the back seats, not ideal and because of the subframes a bit too high for comfort.

I have since got a set of 147 3 door seats just like the ones in the top pic. A vast improvement. My car has the early seat fittings and the 147 seats are a very simple fit. The runners are exactly the same width as the Viva ones and there are holes in the runners that line up perfectly with the original ones in the floor. I made up some hardwood spacer blocks to level everything up and bolted them straight in :D

They are a perfect height and give great access to the rear seat.

Oh, I forgot to say that you need to remove the angle bit and pointy things from the Alfa runners and of course the seat belt fittings. I also removed the complete Viva seats and runners.

The later Viva seat floor mountings appear to be totally compatable with the Alfa 147 seats but I can't be sure.

Thanks all for the tips

Had better look at the seats last night see what you mean by the pointy bit at the end of one runner on each seat looks like it is would hack saw off.

Good news that the runners should line up mine is a 71 HC so its the old style seat base floor mounts. And the seats are heated som might get them wired up for that

Less good is how I get rid of the seat belt pretensioner and the side airbags in the seats :( or did you just leave them in?

Just unbolted the seat belt bit and left the airbags intact.

hi steff,

have already fitted the same alfa seats to my hc estate, use the rails from the alfa and remove all the viva brackets and bolt direct to floor using plastic spacers on outer most rail to level up seats

I'm plesaed I read this now, as I have a set of 147 seats to fit also, and was putting it off because I thought I was going to be doing a lot of head scratching!
