Hi Guys, been sat in the background a while as i been viva less but have just aquired two HBs ones ok and on the road but the other SL which is complete has no id, well non that i can find although i'm sure it will still have the engine number.
The thing is its not bad really, on tops good but underside needs welding, so what are my options, break it for bits, or find its id somehow and save it. just thought i would run it by you guys before i make a decision.
:?

Is this the green one off ebay. Can you post some pictures up of the SL? If its not too bad would be worth trying to track its ID down.

Dosent look to bad, any HB now is getting rare. If you go here: http://www.vauxhallviva.com/?page_id=149

It will tell you where the ID should be.

No joy with the id, so it looks like its going to be broken for bits and its likely i will section up the body so that panels can be salvaged for restoration work on others projects, unless :?:

Engine number on the 1159/1256 OHV engines is on side of the block, just under spark plugs 1&2, above the dynamo/alternator mounting bracket.

How would it help? I'm not sure. :?

As a guide, and assuming engines were used in engine number sequence order, an 1159cc engine no. 131804 found itself in a car registered an 'F' plate in April '68. You could extrapolate from that backwards or forwards with your engine number to take a wild stab at an approximate registration date, give or take many vagaries. Some differences in the placement of various switches for wipers/headlights might help date it roughly too. :|

The towbar is distinctive. :goodluck:

Some photos of the inside would help to give an idea if its an early or later car, the engine number is a wild shot in the dark. If it has one I will look through our club register and see if we have the car listed. Very long shot though!
