Our Minor is the same, MOT testers can believe how efficient the system is. As Peter say, actually driving on drum brake can be a very different matter.

Thankfully, our Minor is used for local jaunts at relatively low speeds on country roads, and it's just delightful in that role. The 'ice cream run' to the North Antrim Coast on a summer evening....:D

The boot lid was sporting a little too much original 'patina', so today being the first day it hasn't rained or been too cold work commenced:

Then the wind got up so play was stopped - until another fine warm day - maybe sometime in 2019

It's been running hot on a run so time to clean the radiator out.

Watching the eruptions from the stubs has been the best 17p worth of fun I've had in ages.

Bit of a story re. the Weber carb I fitted to this....after fitting it the engine ran much better but then started to run rich, very rich. I screwed the idle adjustment all the way in and it still ran rich!

I took the carb to bits - nothing obvious wrong with it, then it ran even worse.

Much head scratching and a few 'tut tuts' - took the carb to bits again.Float is fine, float valve is fine, couldn't see any reason for it to run so rich. Until I came to refit it and noticed that the adaptation I had to make to fit the air filter onto the carb meant that the clip was fouling the choke mechanism. When I screwed the clip tight it was holding the choke permanently on. Turn the clip the other way round (which made it a swine to get at) and it's perfect.

What a clot!
